History

Powick FC Is Born
01 Sep 2011

The social club of the famous 'Worcester County Pauper And Lunatic Asylum', later Powick Hospital (re-named out of political correctness) set up Powick FC although it is not know whether this was the name of the side as League records show the name Powick United.

1994 - Powick Venture Into The Dark Side (AKA The Malvern League)
01 Sep 2011

In 1988 a group of 11 & 12 year old lads from Powick village, with the help of parents Keith Lewis and Derek Dallow, formed a U13's village side.

The side never entered into a competitive league and instead played friendlies against local League and Scout sides of similar age groups.

The side remained together until 1993 when the nucleus of the side commenced training with Powick FC.

With this influx of young players, Powick FC set up a Sunday Reserves side that was entered into the Malvern League for the 1994/95 season under the Management of Ade Barrnett (taking over from his brother Damien Barnett midway through the pre-season).

The highlight of their opening season saw them beat Ledbury Rangers FC 4 - 3 despite, due to injuries and absentees, only being able to field nine men for the match.

The side continued to progress during the 1995/96 season under the guidance of Barry Price and Graham Bird.

During this second season, due to a lack of players, the Sunday First Team folded meaning as of the 1996/97 season the Reserves were disbanded to become the First Team.

The side remained in the Malvern League for a further season before returning to the Worcester & District Football League.

1999 - Saturday Reserve Side Fails To Take Off
01 Sep 2011

With a successful 1998/99 campaign, including promotion and a cup final, completed, a number of players register an interest in playing for the Club.

This increased interest prompted the Club to apply to the League to enter a Saturday Reserve side. The application was accepted, but the players fail to materialise resulting in the Club withdrawing the side weeks before the season kick-off.

2006 - Sunday Reserve Side.....The Second Coming
01 Sep 2011

Founded by Steve Dallow and Zil Rahman in 2006, Powick FC Reserves came into being as the result of a backfired plan.

At their time of meeting, Steve was Secretary of AFC Deers Leap and Zil was the former Player Manager of Sporting Worcester (recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury).

With the Managers seat becoming vacant at Steve's Club an invitation was extended to Zil to take up the Managers role.

Despite him putting plans into place and developing the basis of a new squad, the appointment of Zil did not take place (the Committee opting for an alternative applicant).

As a result of this decision, Steve turned to his old Club, Powick FC, in a hope that they would take Zil and himself on (together with their setup) as a Reserves Side.

With the League's application deadline, for new teams, approaching, talks were held between Zil and the Committee of Powick FC.

The result of these talks was the birth of Powick FC Reserves and the rest as they say is history.

01 Sep 2011

Having been members of the Worcester & District Football League since day one, 2007 saw the Saturday Side make the step up to the West Midlands Regional Football League.
